Costa Rica has recently introduced a new program to encourage distributed generation of power, particularly through solar power. A Net Metering Pilot Program will connect small scale distributed energy generators directly to the grid network. Bidirectional meters will be used to record power generated and power used. The net difference between both will be credited to the customer to offset future consumption.
